About
Hey. My name is Danita.
I’m an ex-mainframe computer programmer, ex-mainframe computer programming instructor, ex- employee, ex-Chicago Public School 5th grade teacher, ex-charter school Computer Science Teacher & Lab Instructor.
I LOVE TECHNOLOGY. I love learning the ins and outs of software; the little intricacies, subtleties and nuances which make a program really sing. And then I love sharing that with others.
I taught myself about PCs. I put my first PC together myself back in 1987 or ’88. Ordered the parts from a PC magazine. I used to work for the phone company. Started with it before it was split up – when it was called AT&T. That’s where I taught myself first, then took a few courses – on the company of course.
I was teaching mainframe computer programming when the phone company decided to put in a PC computer lab. I’d go hang out there and talk to the guys, ask questions and use the equipment. Then I subscribed to several PC magazines to supplement what I was discovering. Before long, I decided to have a computer at home and I didn’t want a COMPAQ.
Most of the parts I purchased from a company called THE PC (Thompson, Harrison, Edelman – I think or something like that). I chose what I wanted on the mother board and whether it was to be a tower or desktop. I chose desktop because I wanted to fiddle around with it. I ordered the controller cards separately so I could put them in myself. It was loads of fun.
UPDATE 3-20-2010: I’m taking on Affiliate Marketing by following Anik Singal’s Bankruptcy series. We’ll ALL see how it goes.
